Monsieur Chrono / Maître Jacques - Jacques Anquetil.
A set of three miniature figures celebrating the career of French great Jacques Anquetil. Hugely successful during his career, Anquetil became the first cyclist to win the Tour de France five times among a host of other titles including the Hour Record. He is famed as one of the sport's ultimate stylists and being the embodiment of souplesse on the bike, using this supreme smoothness to dominate time trial stages on which he built his Grand Tour wins.
He is also remembered as one half of the sporting rivalry Raymond Poulidor (a rivalry that became a true cultural phenomenon in France at the time). And, of course, for a personal life that was more than a little interesting...
As an aside specifically to this set of figures. I was fascinated by Yann from Flandrien's placing Anquetil in a Bianchi jersey given how many iconic jerseys he is associated with as a rider. So I looked it up and yes, lo and behold he did ride half a season for Bianchi in 1955, in some races on the same team as a certain Fausto Coppi.
